Anna Evans, MSW, RSW
I am Anna, the owner of Commence Psychotherapy - a registered social worker and psychotherapist with many years of experience supporting people.
Experience: I am well-versed in treating depression, PTSD, and anxiety. I have experience working with trauma, abuse, assaults and accidents, grief, and thoughts about wanting to die. I spent 4 years working with the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program where I completed intensive clinical training, ongoing performance evaluation, and clinical consultation related to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In addition, I am trained in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT, Level 2) and utilize inner parts work to help clients get in touch with their whole self.
Background: Before entering social work, I had previous careers in the restaurant industry and human resources. I have worked frontline roles in shelters, drop-in centres, supervised injection sites and crisis texting lines. My community and volunteer work has been focused on activism and peer education around sexual health, gender, and sexuality.
Working with me: My goal is to offer you a safe and supportive place where we can begin to understand your life experiences and how you have learned to cope. My presence has been described as authentic, non-judgemental and accepting. I like to infuse humour, challenging questions, and encouragement where appropriate. Depending on the approach we choose, homework may be part of our work together in order to keep you engaged between sessions. My hope is to help you get closer the version of the person you want to be.
I am only able to work with people who are residents of Ontario.
The things we do to survive are usually the same things that keep us from living
